January 2024 frosts

My dad and I spent the long weekend watching TV almost entirely under the blanket. We were sufficiently supplied with food, so we preferred not to go anywhere on these frosty days when the thermometer showed more than -20 degrees Fahrenheit. We drank herbal teas and rested profusely. Everyone chose their favorite movies; I chose all the parts from Shrek and Ice Age. Dad preferred comedies like A Night at the Roxbury and comedies with Leslie Nielsen. Of course, there was also our favorite, Tom and Jerry.
My dad tried to read me from our new book by Jules Verne, but I lost interest after a very short time. I still can't understand his accent, which my dad calls "Oxford-British." Unfortunately, I must add a fundamental word: brutal East European accent. Sometimes, I feel he reads me in Swahili or another incomprehensible language. Anyone who has heard my dad speak “English” knows what I’m talking about.
